Egg-xellent 2 in 1 Mask

Happy Fry-day!!!

Today I'm going to share with you an Egg-stra special mask that can be used on the face and hair. It is egg-specially conveinent for us lazy girls and boys!! Dont be terri-fried with the idea off eggs, this mask can tighten and moisturise the skin and strenghten the hair at the same time.Ok I'll stop cracking these egg jokes and egg-ducate y'all.

Ingredients needed:
  • Egg
  • Coconut Oil

Mask 1
Seperate the egg yolk and egg white into 2 bowls. After cleansing the face with warm water, apply the egg white onto your face. You can use a clean make up brush for easier application. The egg white can cleanse your pores and tighten them to give a smoother appearance. It can also give a instant lifting effect, reducing fine lines and brighten the skin for a glowing complexion. After a few minutes when the mask absorbs into the skin, the face should feel taut. Apply a second layer then rinse off after 10minutes.

Mask 2
After the first mask your pores should be unclogged and excess oil should be removed. It is time to apply the egg yolk onto the face. Egg yolk is a excellent moisturiser and after you should be left with baby soft skin. Again leave mask on for about 10 minutes until the skin feels taut. Whilst your waiting, prepare mask number 3!!!

Mask 3
So whilst your waiting on the yolk to dry on your face. Microwave about a tablespoon of coconut oil in the microwave for about 10 seconds. Then mix the remainders of the egg into it and apply all over dry hair concentrating on the ends. Depending how long your hair is you may need to add an extra egg in your mask. The coconut oil is extrememly moisturising for the hair and the egg will stregthen the hair. Leave for 15-45 minutes and cover your hair with a shower cap or plastic bag to enhance the effciency of this mask.

After you should be left with clean, tightened pores that is soft and glowing; hair that is shiny and soft to touch (it may also increase the growth of your hair!!!) Use this mask once a week and your skin and hair will definitely be thanking you.

How to get Rid of Acne Scars

It's as if having acne wasn't bad enough, now your left with a ugly scar to remind you of the pain you went through whilst that pimple was on your face. GREAT!!

This past month I have been busy reaching deadlines for uni and preparing for exams; my face is throwing a massive pimple party in progress. I have been doing ALL the not-to-do's such as staying up late and  eating late and on top of that not getting enough beauty sleep and stressing out over exams!!! Also I'm indulging in my ultimate weakness Shin Ramen noodles. Whose good at math? Spicy + crazy amount of sodium= pimple alert. You don't have to be Einstein to work that one huh! It's like the best combination for pimples to erupt and explode!! :( Also I've picked a few but shhh... don't tell. ( I'm such a rebel, guess I deserves these scars D: )

No need to worry, today I'm going to be sharing with you my secret recipe. It's cheap and effective so look no further. Nothing is better than natural ingredients you can find in your kitchen right? With only 1 more week till I'm away to Hong Kong I'm determined to have acne free skin!!! I CAN DO IT!!

All you need really is green tea and lemon, were going to be making a toner that will brighten and lighten them scars as well as tighten pores and controlling oil production, keeping acne at bay. I'm going to be adding additional ingredient to enhance this toner to achieve maximum results. Natural ingredients is the way forward, my motto is "Whats good enough to eat, is safe enough to put on your face." But saying that I don't mean slap a steak on your face because it's good to eat. Although Korea has introduced many new unusual products to the market such as snail mucus, snake venom and placenta who knows steak may be the next one.

" I'll have a Aberdeen Angus please...... for my face!!"

Ok back to business, enough of the chit chat. Ingredients you will need is:
  • Lemon- contains natural AHA (Alpha- Hydroxy acid) which removes dead skin cells from the surface of the skin, improving skin tone by revealing brighter, plumper cells underneath. Also filled with vitamin C which encourages collagen production, reducing wrinkles.

  • Green tea- filled with anti oxidants, help soothe problematic skin

  • Dried Rose- is anti- inflammatory, can tighten pores, de-stressing

  • Brown Rice- softens and tone face

  • Cucumber- hydrating, soothes

,
To make this is very simple:.
  1. Place a green tea bag or leaves into a bowl.
  2. Add 1 dried rose and half a handful of brown rice to the bowl.
  3. Boil water and pour water into the bowl to brew the products (the amount of water is dependent on the size of your container for the storage of this toner).
  4. Whilst you wait, squeeze 1 whole lemon and an inch of a cucumber.
  5. Once the tea is cooled, mix with the lemon and cucumber juice.
  6. Place in the fridge over night.

Your toner is then ready to use. Use morning and night for 2 weeks straight to see result. Results should show after a couple of usage. Always keep the toner in the fridge this will prolong the product and ensures maximum effect of the toner.

After cleansing use a cotton pad with the toner and wipe over face, this can remove any excess dirt left from the cleanser and the remainders of the cleanser, then pour some into the palms of your hand and pat more on. If your scar is dark or if you have an existing pimple, soak a small cotton ball and place in the area for a few minutes. This is also a common techniques used by Asian women. They soak their toner or essence in cotton pads and place all over the face as a mask for maximum absorption. You can also get tablet mask which are plain compressed sheet mask which expand with the application of liquid, this can enhance the progress of lightening  acne scars :D Lemon can also cause the skin to be photo-sensitive so remember to wear sunscreen and for those with sensitive skin I advice you to use less concentrated lemon juice.

Sinful Colors Nail Polish

It's such a beautiful day today, I think spring/summer is actually arriving!! Felt like it would never arrive with the amount of rain and wind we've had in the UK! I popped into my local Boots today having heard their selling Sinful colors nail polishes. I was so excited when I got there with their vast range of nail polishes. They ACTUALLY have every colour under the sun!! Lots of them look like dupes for other more expensive nail polishes :D I feel like the packaging relate slightly to China Glaze and they were only £1.99!!!!!!

By looking at the packaging and colour texture the polish seems to be quite good quality! They don't have that weird unmixed tone to it also!! I was lucky to have got there quick as lots of their colours were selling out! Sinful Colors is a brand made in the USA and they have over 70 beautifulll colours to pick from! I ended up picking out 3 which only cost me £5.97 :O I would usually pay more than that for one.

The colours I picked were Glass Pink, Cinderella and Frenzy >.<

Cinderalla, Frenzy and Glass Pink

The first colour I was immediately drawn to was Frenzy. Frenzy is this amazing colour as can be seen in the picture with lots of blue and pinky/purple glitter particles. It's such a statement polish and they had one similar named 'I Miss You' which had more pink glitter particles to it. Was such a hard decidion deciding which disco polish I wanted!! Application was a bit difficult with this one, as with all glitter polishes. I applied in a dabbing motion to ensure that my nail was saturated in glitter and repeat 2 more time prior to that! The result is pretty impressive! Frenzy dries smooth unlike some other glitter polishes I've used and a top coat is optional as it has a smooth, shiny finish to it.

Frenzy

Glass pink is a gorgeous colour that caught my eyes. It just reminded me of candy!! In the bottle you can see a baby pink colour with many gold reflecting glitter that are very fine!! I was slightly disappointed though when I applied it, as it was quite sheer, the colour is very subtle and faint. I was imagining a pop of pink candy haha!! But after applying 3 coats it is the most gorgeous natural nude pink everrr! The fine gold reflecting particles are sooo small that I feel like I'm mesmerised by it. It's such a wearable colour and would go with anything. Perfect colour for the spring/ summer as well. I think glass pink really decribes the polish perfectly.

Glass Pink

The next colour I got was Cinderella! I Just thought "Ohh my god how cute will this one go with Glass Pink!!" I think this one has to be my favourite. It's this soft pastel blue with pinky/ gold reflecting particles. The particles in this is even finer than Glass Pink. It's as if the particles are infused within the polish. This polish really reminds me of blue coloured ice cream for some reason!!

Cinderella

Overall I feel these products are definitely value for money!! All 3 colours I picked up performed amazingly and I'll definitely go back to purchase a few more shades. The texture of Glass Pink and Cinderella are a bit watery, but that is normally the case with pastel nail polishes, after the second coat I was satisfied with the result. All 3 of the polishes leave a glossy finish with no need to apply an additional top coat.

* I will update this blog in next week to talk about durability so watch out for that :)

p.s Quickly rush to your local Boots, as these polishes are flying off the shelves!!

Bleaching/Lightening Eyebrows

It has became very popular in Asia especially amongst Japanese and kpop stars to dye their hair lighter. But being Asian the majority of the people have black to very dark eyebrows which is harder to compliment their skintone or hair colour. Lightening the eyebrows can give a softer effect to the face, making it look more youthful.

Hyuna

CL 2NE1

GD Big Bang

Taeyeon Girl's Generation

Many kpop stars get their eyebrows dyed whilst their at the salon dying their hair. There are also dyes especially for facial hair which you can purchase. Always take extra care when handling bleaching products as it is a harmful substance. Make sure to do a patch test incase you react to the bleach. Better to be safe than sorry :)

I purchased Jolen Crème Bleach from home bargains for £2.49. It comes with bleaching powder and developing crème. Instruction were easy, just mixing the 2 and I waited 15 minutes for it to develop to achieve the desired colour. There is no smell or irritation when on the skin. With only a slight redness after use :) Also to improve the developing stage I placed cling film on top so the heat can penetrate the shaft of the hair enhancing the effectiveness of the product!! Down below are some before and after pictures.

Bleaching in process
 (LOL I look so scary)

AFTER!!!

After with brow pencil

As you can see the final result is a bit lighter. I feel like the lighter brows compliment my skin more and looks better when I fill in my brows as well :) If you are afraid of dying your eyebrows there are other products that you can use such as eyebrow mascara. These mascara coats your hair making them appear lighter. A popular brand is Palty, which is a Japanese brand from a famous gyaru model Tsubasa Masuwaka.

Here are some more photos of the end result: ps camera whoring alert ;)

Yay to lighter brows :)

SKINFOOD: Rice Mask Wash Off

HEYY GUYSSS!!!

This is going to be my first ever product review :D!! So excited to share my thoughts and feelings about beauty products finallyy!!! I'm gonna start off with a easy one. This product I'm going to share is highly raved about, maybe you already own it? But it's should be a staple product for ALL mankind!!! I've had this product for almost a year now and I definitely SWEAR by this product. It has got me through good and bad skin days and will forever remain in my skincare routine. It is........... theee Skinfood wash off rice mask!!!!!

Ok so Skinfood is a Korean brand which base their products on natural ingredients!! They have a variety of different lines such as wild berry, aloe vera, brocolli and snail mucus. They are extremely popular in Asia and specialise in skincare and cosmetics. All their products have really cute and natural packaging, which I adore!! Definiely a sucker for ALL Skinfood products ^.^

The rice masks is Skinfood's bestselling product. It comes in a tub with 100g of product. This product will actually last you for agesss btw!!! as stated on the product it is:

"A wash-off mask containing rice extract that moisturizes skin and brightens tone. With its texture of ground rice, it leaves skin bright, soft and lustrous."

The rice granules will help lift off excess dirt and oil from the skin's surface which will keep the complexion clear and soft. No wonder, because rice grains contains a cleansing property which cleanses and tones the skin leaving the skin tighter with a vibrant healthy glow. Rice water can actually be used as a toner so remember next time your making rice don't throw away the precious rice water :P

Very smooth and creamy with fine rice granules

This product can be used on all skin type as the granules are very small and gentle. It has a creamy texture with only a light scent that is almost non- existent, which is perfect for sensitive skin. It easily glides on the face with no irritation caused by the fine exfoliating granules.

How to use: Preferably used at night when the skin is repairing. Apply a generous amount of the mask all over freshly cleansed face and wait for 1-2 minute for the product to sink in for maximum nutrient absorption . After, in gentle outwards and upwards motions massage the masks into the skin concentrating on areas more susceptible to dirt (blackheads round the nose) and avoid eye area. Wash off with lukewarm water then splash face several times with ice cold water to seal the pores. You should be left with soft, glowy skin :D YAY!!!. Then follow with normal skincare routine.

I usually like to use this mask at least once a week. I do although exfoliate my face 2-3 times a week using other products. This mask is actually so gentle that you can use it every other day without being too harsh, as some other products can be. After using this masks my skin always feels and looked renewed. I'll ALWAYS use this mask after a night out or a day I wake up with dull and dry skin. Don't you just hate them days. Now with this product I'm bound to never encounter them lifeless skin days!!! HOOORAYYY!!! Skin is smoother, make up wears better and my confidence is sky high!! Nothing beats that feeling!!

 Before                                                              AFTER!!!

Haha sorry for the dark eyebag situation :( been up all night revising for EXAMS!!! But as you can see my pore are smaller, my complexion is more even and skin is slightly lighter and brighter WOOHOOO!!! Definitely an awesome product for people with busy lifes, only slept for 4-5 hours last night and with only 2 minute facial  my skin has transformed. It's like beauty sleep in a tub ;)

Say No to Facial Wipes

Facial wipes are an essential for many make up wearers. There cheap and convenient but do you know they are really bad for the skin!! Although they claim to be 'gentle' and suitable for 'sensitive skin' they actually contain many harsh chemicals that strips the skin's natural oil and disrupts the pH of the skin. Wipes should only be used for 3 F's; flights, festivals and fannys. As funny as it may sound, it's definitely true. I used to be a victim of the facial wipe. I've never heard of facial wipes being harsh to the skin they all claim to be fragrance free with no preservatives and sound like the best invention EVER. So quick and easy to remove make up as well. Even doing some research online I couldn't find much information on the harms of facial wipes.

My skin has always been acne prone and I've used many different products from the drugstore to high end to try combat it. But why having tried so many different type of products I'm still breaking out. It was very heart breaking and I would cover my face in make up in hope to cover these blemishes. Which made it 10X WORSE!!! My skin was unable to breathe and at the end of the day I would 'take my make up off' hoping it will be better the next day! The thing is make up wipes don't actually cleanse the skin properly, residues of make up and dirt are still left on the skin and over time the dirt would block pores leading to break outs. The wipes in the packaging are filled with alcohol and preservatives to keep the wipes moist for a long period of time. These moist cloths are also a perfect breeding ground for bacteria. The amount of alcohol can dry the skin leading to premature aging, especially round the delicate eye area. Where some actually claim can be used on :O lying b****es!!  Particular ingredients to watch out for are propylene glycol, dipropylene glycol, parabens, phenoxyethanol and 2-Bromo-2-Nitropropane-1, 3-Dio. (Don't actually know what these compounds are but damnnn they sound complex and up to no good!!!)

I would like to stress how important cleansing is in your skincare routine. Remember to cleanse, cleanse, cleanse, even double cleanse!!! (maybe cover in another post). There are plenty of good gentle cleanser out there that are very effective. Once I've stopped using facial wipes my skin has became so much clearer. It amazing what can change with ditching these facial wipes :) definitely one of the best decision I've ever made and now my favourite step in my skincare routine is cleasing!!! Please stop using these harsh what so called 'gentle facial wipes' they can only do harm to the skin.

LOL my mum actually bought a 'back up' supply of wipes for me from Costco!!! A MULTIPACK of 6!!! Gonna last me a lifetime, at least they were cheap think about £4. Sooo annoying I dunno what to use them for hahaha!! Been cleaning my phone and mirrors with them to try use them up.

That's all for today. Moral of the story don't trust what it says on the packaging, some companies are lying b****es!!! They only want your money!!
See you guys in the next post

How to become a budget barbie?!

There is a saying in Chinese which literally translates to in English

" In the world there is no ugly woman, only lazy woman."

I definitely live by this quote!! Everyone is beautiful and unique in there own way, they only need to work and these strong points will naturally shine through! If you want to have beautiful healthy skin, you WILL have beautiful healthy skin. If you want long shiny locks, you WILL have long shiny locks. Just as long as you work for it there is nothing that is unachievable. These positive goals you want to achieve we're always in you, you just needed a bit of work to make it show, shine through (remember no pain, no GAIN ;))

Have you ever seen a celebrity with bad skin or dry damaged hair. This is all down to all the effort they put in. All this obviously come at a cost. So here on Budget Barbie I will be sharing my tips and tricks in helping you acheive this at low cost :p oh yeahhhh!!! Beauty doesn't have to come with a price, trust me!!!

In the meantime I'm gonna share 5 tips on deciding to buy a beauty product

1. Make sure you know exactly what you want- don't just shop around and decide on the spot if you need it or not.

2. When you know what type of product you want do research and look at reviews of the product, evaluate the pros and cons.

3. When you know the exact product look around in different shops to compare the price. This is usually easier done online but remember to check out less mainstream shops such as savers and home bargain they always treasure gems!!

4. eBay- usually the cheapest option online. Make sure its a reliable ebayer before considering. If your bidding always bid last minute. Set a budget in mind as the tension during popular items can get you out of hand. Set a timer 5 minutes before the ending time and bid on the last 15 seconds. Remember to refresh page as often as possible till the end time and bid £1 or so (depending on the item) more than minimal bid. Haha as you can tell I'm quite a eBay pro ;) you can only learn from the best eh?!

5. Sample size- quite often there are sample sizes on sale from eBay therefore you could test out the product before considering buying the full size product.

Hope these tips help in budgeting beauty splurges as I know you can get easily distracted with raved about products and ending up paying too much for them! Why pay more if you can pay less ;) that money saved can go on another splurge!!!
